Healthy, high-protein 15-minute lunch recipe: Prawns and chilli stir fry

This recipe is tastier than Chinese takeout!

Who doesn t like Chinese food! Especially the fiery, red hot Indian Chinese food that we are so accustomed to. It is no wonder then that Chinese restaurants are so popular in India, perhaps even more so than Udipi or Punjabi cuisine restaurants. The problem with Chinese food we get outside is that it is loaded with monosodium glutamate (MSG), sodium, oil and colours. Also Read - Know about these hidden sources of salt

No doubt it tastes delicious, but then the health hazards of regularly eating Chinese food cannot be ignored. The oil in the food can increase your cholesterol levels, acidity and bloating. I love Chinese food and whenever possible to recreate the dishes that I like. Here is one high-protein recipe that required prawns, capsicum along with a few more ingredients. This low-sodium recipe is tasty and is as good as the one you get in restaurants. You can have this dish as an appetizer or as a side dish to your entr e. Ingredients:

1 cup cleaned, deveined prawns (without shells)

1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

tsp turmeric

1 tsp chilli flakes

1 tsp soy sauce

2 green chillies, chopped

2-3 cloves garlic chopped

1 tbsp cornstarch

Salt and pepper to taste

1 capsicum, diced

1 onion, chopped

2 tbsp lemon juice

Oil to shallow fry

Method:

1) Marinate the prawns with ginger garlic paste, turmeric and 1 tsp of lemon juice and set aside for about 30 minutes.

2) Make a batter of cornstarch, salt, pepper, chilli flakes, soy sauce along with a little bit of water.

3) Coat each prawn with this batter.

4) Heat oil or butter in a pan and fry onions till they become translucent. Then add garlic and chillies.

5) Add the capsicum and wait till they are semi cooked.

6) Add the prawns one by one and let them cook.

7) While cooking, stir all the ingredients together.

8) Once the prawns are cooked, turn off the flame.

9) Pour some lemon juice on the prawns and serve hot.
