Running out of options to eat something healthy during the evening snack time? Here s a healthy and fibre rich recipe of home-baked crackers that will satiate your hunger pangs and taste buds too. You can also try these protein rich snacks to beat your hunger pangs. You can prepare a big batch and store it in an airtight container. Remember not to over-eat these just because they are healthy. You can snack guilt-free on 2-3 crackers in the evening.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups whole wheat or multigrain flour
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • cup coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 small green chili, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • tsp black pepper powder
  • 2 tbsp dried fenugreek leaves
  • 1 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • tsp baking soda
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tbsp olive oil

Method:

  1. In a big bowl, take the flour. You can use multigrain flour or add oats powder to the whole wheat flour too.
  2. Now add the chopped onions, coriander, fry fenugreek leaves or kasuri methi, and green chillies. Give it a stir.
  3. Add the sesame seeds, cumin seeds, and other dry ingredients and mix well.
  4. Now add the sour cream or yogurt. Both will give the same effect and hence homemade yogurt is a better option. Mix well so that all the ingredients are blended properly.
  5. Add the olive oil and mix with your fingers to form a crumbly batter. This crumbly texture will make the crackers crisp.
  6. Knead very tight dough by adding water with a spoon as required. Once the dough is ready, cover it with a muslin cloth or tissue and leave it aside for 20 minutes.
  7. Knead it gently once again and make small balls. Roll the crackers and with the help of a square bowl or cookie cutter, give them the desired shape.
  8. Place the crackers on the baking tray with a baking sheet or butter paper.
  9. Bake at 375 degrees F for 22 minutes. Flip the crackers once after 11 minutes.
  10. Keep a watch on the crackers as you don t want to overbake them. A light brown colour is what you need.
  11. Remove from oven and allow them to cool. Enjoy with evening tea or just as is with a yogurt dip.
