Chakli, also known as murukku, is a popular snack from Maharashtra and Southern India that is quite crispy and crunchy. It is usually made during festivals. Chaklis are usually deep fried and contain loads of calories. As part of our healthy Diwali recipe series, here's a chakli recipe where instead of deep-frying it can baked using just 1 teaspoon of oil in the oven. This simple and delicious recipe is a real treat for weight watchers.
Preparation Time: 10 mins
Baking Time: 15 mins
Baking Temperature: 160 C (320 F)
Makes 12 chaklis
Ingredients
Rice flour (chawal ka atta) 1/2 cup
Oil 1 tsp
Low fat curds (dahi) 1 tbsp
Asafoetida (hing) a pinch
Salt to taste
