Sabudana or tapioca isn't recommended when you have diarrhea
Avoid eating sabudana khichdi as it is not easy to digest because its calorie count is equal to potatoes. Also, it contains groundnuts and coconut shavings which is also a complete no-no when you're suffering from diarrhea, says Agarwal.

Shravan is considered the holiest month in the Hindu calendar dedicated to Lord Shiva. All Mondays during this period are considered sacred for fasting and are known as Shravan Somwar Vrat. Vrat or fasts are observed during this month. Nutritionist Farzana Chauhan sheds light on the right food one can eat during this holy month.  Also Read - Raksha Bandhan 2018: Nutritious coconut laddoo recipe for Narali Purnima

In Shravan, Hindus follow a complete vegetarian diet. A few people observe a fast by eating fruits, meals with sabudana (sago), vari rice, milk, curd, buttermilk and dry fruits; while others just have one meal a day. Food cooked during fasts is usually prepared by using rock salt. Also Read - How fasting during Shravan affects your skin and blood sugar levels too

The reason why Hindus restrict themselves from non-vegetarian diet during Shravan is that it falls in the monsoon season and therefore there are chances of waterborne diseases. Secondly, it’s also a breeding season for various animals and marine creatures as the female fish have eggs in their stomach and it is a sin to kill animals when they are pregnant or hatching eggs. That is why Hindus avoid meat and fish during this month. Also Read - Shravan 2018: Does your vegetarian diet have enough iron?

Many people find it difficult to make their diet balanced during Shravan hence feel low on energy during the afternoon/office hours. But the truth is, one can plan their diet efficiently to keep them going throughout the day.

Following is a sample diet plan for people observing a Shravan fast
