Healthy date and chocolate cake recipe

On a weight loss diet but can't give up eating desserts? No doubt they pile on several calories in one go but making them in a healthy manner can certainly do the trick. This yummy date and chocolate cake is rich in fibre, high in iron content and is a natural energy booster. So satisfy your sweet tooth in a healthy way with this dessert.

Ingredients

  • Whole wheat flour cup
  • Custard powder 4 tsp
  • Dates 100g
  • Cocoa powder (unsweetened) 4 tbsp
  • Milk 1 cup
  • Egg 1
  • Jaggery powder cup
  • Baking powder 1 tsp
  • Oil 3 tsp

Method

Remove the seeds from the dates and soak in milk for 2 hours.

Sieve the flour, custard powder and cocoa powder along with baking powder.

Beat the egg and add to this dry mixture.

Add oil, dates in milk and jaggery powder to it and mix well.

If needed, add more milk to get the right consistency.

Bake the cake at 180 degree for 45 minutes or microwave at 50% power for seven minutes and then 100% power for 1 minute.

Let it cool.

Cut into slices and serve.
