After crossing 65, most men have already retired from their profession and start counting the years they have left to live. The quality of life decreases, and in some cases people s brains are affected by dementia. Even if one is reasonably healthy, physical fighting is a thought that doesn t cross their minds at this age.
However for Grudge Match both Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro put their age behind and trained to play their parts. Stallone who is 65 plays the part of Henry Razor Sharp and De Niro plays Billy The Kid McDonnen. Both were boxers in their prime, and played two matches out of which one was won by Henry and one was won by Billy. Years later, both of them are coaxed to come out of retirement on public demand and play a grudge match to settle unfinished business. The reason the audience is so excited about this is that both Stallone and De Niro have been part of the two biggest boxing movies of all time Rocky and Raging Bull.
I ve always enjoyed working out, but this thing was pretty extraordinary. We got to prove that you don t have to be crawling around at a certain age, or that you re obliged to start winding down. , Stallone said in an interview with TheRecordHerald.com.
Stallone, who has always been fit followed a high protein diet. I follow a high-protein diet: Anything with a face, that's what I eat, with something green next to it. I focus on a variety of exercises, working out three times a week for 90 minutes per session. I really feel good. , he told Examiner.com.
On the other hand, De Niro had a bigger challenge. The actor known more for his acting than his muscles wasn t as fit, and Stallone was worried whether he will be by the time they face each other in the ring. Both of them trained at different places, and met only after the training was over. We had this trainer, that Sylvester s worked with for a long time, Bob Sale and I worked with him, and another fighter John Dunya under Bob but he was great. And I didn t lose 35 pounds, I lost like 20 or so. And I worked hard as I could to get to the point where we would meet. He choreographed it, we worked and Bob would come and we worked on it. We got together worked for a couple of days, and we worked it out, he s terrific - he made it all happen, I was just following him. , De Niro told Examiner.com.
Who finally won the duel between these two legendary actors? We don t know yet. The movie released on 10th January and is running at a theatre near you. You can also read about how Chris Hemsworth, Hugh Jackman, Kellan Lutz and Henry Cavill got ripped for their respective roles.
