Want to look and feel as fit as Spiderman? All you have to do is add the Spiderman exercise to your routine. A simple yet effective variation and combination of the regular pushups and plank, this exercise energises your body when performed in the morning. Your arm and chest muscles work harder in this exercise. It aims at increasing resistance and improving muscle strength. The forward and backward movement of your leg works the lower abs and produces results similar to abdominal crunches.

How to perform the Spiderman exercise

  1. Begin with the push up position. Your hands must be shoulder width apart and toes hip width apart.
  2. Your body must be in a straight line. Do not raise or lower your hips.
  3. Begin the Spiderman exercise by softening the arm and bending one elbow slightly.
  4. Now bring your leg forward so that the knee touches the elbow. Slowly bring the leg in position.
  5. Repeat with the other leg. Perform 2 sets of 10 reps each along with other routine exercises.

Since one of the sides is lowered during this exercise, it exerts more workload on the chest and arm muscles. It is a great upper body strengthening workout and is beneficial for your pectoral muscles, triceps and biceps. Also, this variation of pushups will break monotony from your regular fitness workout and make it more interesting. You can also try these push up variations to build upper body strength.
