Do you work night shifts? A study indicates that you are likely to become obese. People working in BPO and other MNCs during night-shifts often complain of improper digestion, weight gain, bloating in night-shift. This is primarily due to the lack of availability nutritious food says Dr Aastha Sharma, Dietitian at Nayati Multispecialty Hospitals, Mathura.

Most of the night-shift workers have access only to office vending machines, crammed full of sodas and candy, and fast food restaurants. It is advisable to avoid eating fried foods during the night shift, as they are hard to digest and linger in the stomach. Eat foods that are easy to digest, such as mild soups, rice, and yogurt. Avoid these difficult to digest foods. Consume only small amounts of high-fat foods and caffeine. When you are preparing your meal, choose foods rich in protein to increase your alertness and energy. A few protein-rich foods that you can add include boiled eggs, peanut butter, peas, beans and roasted channa, cornflakes milk, and poha.

Since the day is spent sleeping and hence your diet for the night must be planned carefully. Here is a special plan recommended by Dr. Sharma.
