Fitness plan day 46 – Detox your body after a day of indulgence

Valentine's Day is over and it's time to get your body back on track.

The Valentine s Day celebration yesterday must have been awesome and we hope you didn t over indulge in things. Even if you did, one cheat day after 1 and half month of religiously following the plans is fine. Let s detox and bring the body back to routine today.

Morning Nutritionist Dr Neha Sanwalkar recommends chewing soaked methi or fenugreek seeds early morning on an empty stomach. The natural soluble fibres in the seeds help suppress appetite and keep you full throughout the day. It also aids digestion, improves immunity, lowers cholesterol and keeps your skin healthy.

Breakfast Your breakfast can be heavy today as the other meals will be lighter since you need to detox and give your body rest from all the indulgence from yesterday. Make nachni pancakes today and enjoy them with nutritious green chutney.

Lunch Keep the lunch light yet nutritious today with this stuffed tomato recipe. The filling comprises of mixed vegetables and paneer both of which will satisfy your hunger pangs. The recipe is also a storehouse of folic acid and vitamin B12. You can eat with one roti or a grilled or boiled chicken steak.

Dinner Some salads are best avoided as they can interfere with your weightloss plans. The key is to keep the dressing low cal since most of the ingredients are low calorie. Try the beetroot and spinach salad for dinner today along with a bowl of tomato and cinnamon soup. This will leave you feeling full yet light.

Snacks For your evening snack, have 2 masala khichia papad that are roasted. You can add grated carrots, cucumber, onion, tomato, lime juice and coriander on the khichia papad to make it a filling snack.

There are chances that you have not given enough time for exercise yesterday. It s time to make-up for it. After all, you don t want one cheat day to immediately show results on your weighing scale. So gear up with a nice cardio warm up and follow the usual exercise routine.

At home No matter how lazy you feel, you can t skip this home workout. All you need is a small room and a yoga mat. These exercises will strengthen your lower body, core and upper body. It focuses on shaping your torso and helps you get rid of the muffin top.

In the gym At the gym today, use barbells in addition to your regular cardio and floor exercises. Do the barbell squats the right way and try the barbell deadlift to sculpt your back. Remember to take the assistance of your trainer for the deadlift.

Yoga Detox your body with this Apaan mudra. It combines sukhasana with this mudra and is known to relieve you from constipation, flatulence, restlessness and regulates the functioning of the liver. Yoga helps you detox just through the right techniques of breathing. This along with the right hand gesture can release toxins from your body.

Before sleeping According to a study published in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology, 10 minute meditation before going to sleep will relax your body completely and help you with a good night s sleep. After a battling the Monday blues, that s what you need.
