Two more days to go and it will be a month that you started following the fitness plan. You should be proud of yourself for coming this far. However, now is the time you might feel like giving up because you think you definitely look and feel fitter, so why not stop now! But, No. Now is not the time. You need maintain the healthy lifestyle for sustainable results.
Morning--Most of us have a habit of sleeping with our phones and other electronic items like TV remote controls under the pillow. While you might not want to switch the TV on the first thing in the morning, there are high chances that you might want to check your cell phone. Early morning is not the time to catch up on Facebook updates, WhatsApp forwards and checking e-mail. Make sure you keep these gadgets away from your bed. Keep them a least 10 feet away from your bed so you don't check your phone the first thing in the morning.
Healthy recipes--
Breakfast--Begin your day with Sabudana Khichdi. Sabudana or Sago has various health benefits. It not only improves digestion but is also known to improve bone health. The sabudana khichdi is made with soaked sabudana, cumin, ghee and peanuts all of which make it a good source of energy. Here's the recipe to make sabudana khichdi.
Lunch--Like breakfast, a filling lunch is also an important part of eating right. Karela or bitter gourd is known for its various health benefits. It's not only good for maintaining blood glucose levels and controlling diabetes but also improves your digestive system. For lunch, you can eat baked Karela stuffed with paneer and luchi which soft roti like bread. Here are their recipes.
Dinner--If you are bored of eating plain dal chawal, try the Italian risotto. Risotto is made with arborio rice, and you can add different types of vegetables to it. You can also add grilled chicken or fish to it. Here's the recipe to make grilled chicken risotto.
Snacks--Many times we are stuck with left over chapatis and end up eating them after reheating. However, chapatis lose their moisture and eating stale chapatis is not a lot of fun. Exercise--
By now you must have got the hang of how much you should exercise and also the intensity with which you should work out. However, after a time the same old exercise routine becomes boring, and that is when you should branch out to different forms of exercise.
At home--If you work out at home, you must try out Zumba. Zumba is a dance and an exercise form that focuses on hip and belly movements. It's a whole lot of fun to dance and burn calories while enjoying the whole exercise. There are various videos on YouTube you can follow and exercise in the comfort of your home.
In the gym--If you have become a gym junkie by now, well and good. You must have tried a weights and cardio but now is the time to focus on core building. Core building exercises help you build your abdomen muscles and increase your stamina. One such core building exercise is the plank. Here's how and why you should practise the plank.
Yoga--So when you are planning to break free of the boredom and try something new out, you can practise power yoga. Power yoga is a more dynamic version of traditional yoga and involves fast-paced and intense movements. Here's how you can practise power yoga.
Sleep well tip--If you are used to waking up early with the help of an alarm clock, time to give up that habit! Alarm clocks make you more dependent and you lose the ability to wake up according to your natural body clock. So tonight don't switch the alarm on. Instead, close your eyes while you are lying down on your bed, take a deep breath and think about when you want to wake up in the morning. Say, you want to wake up at six am say to yourself that you will wake up at six in the morning, and you will naturally wake up at that time. You will not only complete your sleep but will feel fresh too.
