Fitness Plan Day 20: De-stress to lose weight faster

This fitness plan will help you detox, release stress and keep you in shape at the same time.

Fitness and weight loss is not just about spending time at the gym and eliminating certain foods from your diet; your mental state can have a huge influence on whether you can hit your weight loss goals. Cortisol, the stress hormone slows down your body's metabolism. So if you stay stressed for a long time, your body will not be able to burn as many calories as it should. So, beat stress with this fitness regime.

Diet plan

Morning: Start your day with a glass lauki juice. Lauki is excellent to boost your energy levels and kick start your day.

Breakfast: Milk and cornflakes or milk and poha/upma are rich in fibre and are ideal for breakfast. If you are from norther India and are into eating parathas, you can try this dal paratha. If you are from southern India, you can try this vegetable masala idli .

Lunch: This can consist of a proper meal like rotis/bhakri with vegetables, salads and a source of protein like dal/curd/ sprouts/ non-veg dishes like eggs, fish, chicken plus a small helping of rice. Try this steamed veg manchurian. Make sure you avoid pickles and papads.

Evening snack: This can be mixed dry fruits, seasonal fruits or any fruit. You can also have a bowl of sprouts as your snacks.

Dinner: Preferably opt for an early dinner and keep it light. Include a bowl of sabzi or dal along with two rotis. Try this arbi ki sabzi. You can also have a bowl of soup for dinner.

Exercise

Home: Spice up your fitness regime with Zumba. It will not only help you burn up to 600 calories but will also release a lot of toxins. Zumba is a happy workout that will shape your body along with relaxing your mind. You can try these 8 other dance workouts.

Yoga: It will not only tone your body but will also help you beat stress. Performing marjariasana can be an excellent way to get rid of the pent-up tension from your back and neck. Balasana is also a great stress buster which gently stretches your thighs, hips, ankles and calms your mind.

Gym: You may not want to go to the gym because you may feel that you are stressed, and require rest. However, the fact is weight training can help release endorphins which make you feel good and release all the negative energy. Here are 5 best strength training moves.

Sleep: Fifteen minutes before you hit the sack, dim the lights in the bathroom or turn on some relaxing music on your phone and take a warm shower. The heat can relax you and soothe your achy muscles. A little massage will also help ease the muscle tension.
