Fitness plan day 168 – Keep blood sugar in control with today’s plan

A good lifestyle is a foundation of good health. You need to balance food, exercise, stress and sleep well to stay healthy. Our fitness plans are helping you do just that for the past 6 months. Keep following them because half the journey is complete and you have done so well. Here s today s plan:

Morning The weather is getting better. Start your morning with a cup of ginger tree which will energise you completely. Here s why ginger tea is better than your regular cup of tea. It is a natural aid for relieving tension headache and also stimulates the digestive system.

Breakfast Keep your breakfast protein rich with the soya upma recipe. The recipe is also rich in folic acid, iron and vitamin B12. It is easy to make and you can add vegetables of your choice to it. With a squeeze of lime, this upma is a perfect breakfast after the ginger tea.

Lunch Make some authentic yet healthy Mexican rice for lunch. The recipe uses no oil and is freat for diabetes patients too. Brown rice and kidney beans are both nutritious and filling. You can enjoy it with a glass of chaas or buttermilk during lunch.

Snack A snack in the evening is must to avoid binge eating during dinner. Dinners should be light and a good snack helps serve that purpose. You can make a grilled spinach sandwich for the evening. The recipe is rich in fibre and has a low glycemic index and hence diabetic friendly.

Dinner Skip Indian food today and make a stylish recipe for dinner too. This way you won t even realize you are following a fitness routine. Try the herbed chicken with coleslaw for dinner. Vegetarians can replace the chicken with paneer or tofu if required.

Exercises

At home You don t need equipment to exercise at home nor do you need excuse for exercise. So get pumping with these cardio home exercises. These 3 exercises will rev up your metabolism. Begin at a slow pace and then increase your pace as per your stamina.

Yoga Stretching after an intense workout is essential. This prevents the muscles from getting sore the next day. Practice the Chakrasana today. It is a great pose to keep your blood sugar level in control too. The Chakrasana is easy to perform and relaxes the muscles of your back and spine. It also reduces your stress levels.

Gym Leg exercises are difficult to perform but yield fantastic results. They tone the lower body and the waist too. Don t avoid these just because they are difficult or painful. Try these gym exercises for getting super toned legs. Don t forget to warm up and cool down before these exercises. Combine these with cardio exercises and you ll see it works wonders.

Sleep well tip Mouth freshners post meals have been an Inidan tradition. They are not chewed just for the sake of preventing bad breath but they also aid digestion and help you get a good night s sleep. Chew some dhana dal after dinner.
