Weekend means a day to take a break from your arduous fitness routine and give your body some rest. But wait don t throw in the towel just yet. Remember, your body and mind can trick you to get lazy if go overboard. So make your rest day more interesting by planning a short fitness vacation trekking, paragliding or maybe a rafting trip. There are many adventure tourist spots for a day long activity where you can go take a break and put all those well earned strength (in your muscles) to work.
Morning If you have a trip planned, you sure are not going to wake up late. Even if you have not planned one it is better to get up on time. Make sure you hydrate yourself well right after you wake up to give your system a jolt. Drink at least two glasses of water to help get rid of the toxins that build up in your body overnight. More than the workouts you do, it is the food you eat that keeps you fit, healthy and strong. What you choose to eat is what makes the real difference in your caloric intake.
Breakfast: If you are leaving for your trip eat something that will give you enough energy to go through the stunts and drills that you might have to do at the location. Else pack yourself a good carbohydrate rich snack like an apple and carrot sandwich or a mixed sprouts poha to keep you full and give you the required energy.
Lunch: When on the go, preparing a lavish lunch is not easy so either pack yourself a healthy lunch or lots of fruits and cereal bars to keep your going. But a little planning will ensure that you don t go hungry. Some easy options for lunch that you can pack in your bag are soya methi tepla or coconut paneer puran poli which is sweet, healthy and rich with fibre.

Snacks: With all that walking, jumping and moving around you do on your fitness break 4 p.m. hunger pangs are definitely not going to excuse you. So keep your bag stuffed with dried fruits, dhoklas, makhana that can help you pull through crazy hunger pangs.
Dinner: For dinner keep it light; don t gorge on everything or anything as you reach home. Opt for a healthy mixed veggies and rice preparation or grilled chicken risotto, which is healthy minus excess calories of fatty rich foods.
Workouts
If your vacation calls out for real hard labour, you might not think too much about working out. But there is still something you can do to help your body get some light exercises to recover from the soreness of the whole week.
At home: Do some light stretching exercises before leaving for your trip early in the morning. Especially to strengthen your back, your back muscles need to be strong enough to help your do all your planned activities. Here are six simple back exercises you can do at home.
At gym/vacation: If you are out in the open gym is out of question, but do a lot of lunges, squats and stretches before you do any climbing or rappelling activity. This will make your muscles flexible enough and keep you energetic during your adventure activity.
Yoga: If you have carried your yoga mat with you, try doing the Chaturranga Dandasana which promises to tone your entire body and calm your senses too.
Sleep: After all the activity you did the whole day you are bound to fall asleep. If you still don t then drink a glass of nutmeg milk to induce sleep and get into your wonderland.
