Early morning stretching exercise to keep you energetic through the day

Do you end up postponing your early morning workout to the evening just because you are not feeling energetic? Early morning exercise is undoubtedly beneficial but is it easy to start running the moment you wake up? Your body needs some warm up exercise and some stretches before it becomes energetic to continue with your daily fitness routine or workout. These 5 tips will make your morning workout a breeze.

Here are some simple stretches that help you feel energetic and geared up for a busy day:

Stretch 1

  • For the first stretch, stand straight with legs shoulder width apart.
  • Breathe in and raise your hands slowly above your head.
  • Soften your knees and bend slightly bringing your hands down to touch your feet in a slow motion.
  • Roll up to your normal position and continue. The video below will make the exercise easy.

Stretch 2

  • Stand straight and dive forward so that your hands touch your feet and knees softened.
  • Now walk forward with your hands and stretch such that your back is straight.
  • Legs must be placed hip width apart and you should be positioned on your toes. Now circle each ankle 3 times clockwise and three times anti-clockwise.
  • Follow this by pressing one heel down by stretching your knee and repeat with the other.
  • For a side stretch, hold the position and look underneath your shoulder, first to the left then right.

Stretch 3

  • Get in a plank position with support on your palms and not elbows or forearm.
  • Push yourself backward and then forward. Repeat this 5 times.
  • Now drop your hips to the floor and arch your back such that you are in pose number 7 of Suryanamaskar. Relax for 30 seconds.

Stretch 4

  • Sit back on your heels and stretch your back and hands by bending forward.
  • Scoop your abs in and out and relax.
