Diwali healthy recipe: Baked chickpeas

Chickpeas with pinch of garam masala and chaat masala is a fun snack to munch with drinks.

Chickpeas with  pinch of garam masala and chaat masala is a fun snack to munch with drinks. Chickpea is cholesterol-free and can be a healthy addition to any dish. It also is a rich source of protein. Also Read - Diwali dos and don’ts for safe and healthy festivities

  • 1 cup chickpeas (kabuli chana)
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon chaat masala
  • ½ teaspoon amchur powder
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • Wash and soak chickpeas overnight. Pressure cook chickpeas with bay leaf and garam masala for 2 whistles, reduce the flame and keep it for 5-6 minutes.
  • Drain the chickpeas and spread them as a thin layer and let the moisture dry up.
  • In a bowl add olive oil, red chilli powder, chaat masala, amchur powder, pepper powder and salt and whisk well.
  • Add the chickpeas to this mixture and let it marinate for half an hour.
  • Line a baking tray with silver foil and spread the marinated chickpeas in a single layer. Bake it at 160 degrees for 15 minutes until they turn crispy.
