You must be doing this every weekend. You cook yourself the best lunch, and then you are in no position to move because you overate. Burping is one thing, but the discomfort is too much to handle. So the next time you feel that you cannot move from the couch because you overate, here s what you can do according to nutritionist Cherry Gupta.
Sip some peppermint tea: Try sipping some ginger or peppermint tea. It will reduce the discomfort and also quell nausea. In fact, sipping some peppermint tea half an hour before your meal can prevent you from overeating.
Change into loose clothes: Also, make sure that you change into loose fitting clothes after your meal. Wearing those tight jeans is only going to make you feel further uncomfortable.
Sit straight: Instead of slouching just sit straight and stay upright. You can also sit in vajrasana to ease the discomfort and improve your digestion. Here's what overeating does to your body.
Stretch: Some stretching and twisting will also help get things moving after a big meal. You can try performing these yoga asanas half an hour after a meal to support digestion and release toxins.
Watch your next meal: So if you overate for lunch, make sure that you eat a light dinner. You could just stick to some soup and a salad. Or if you overate at your dinner date, just eat a protein-rich breakfast the next morning. Avoid packaged foods and do not eat sugar the whole day. Just focus on veggies, lean protein and healthy fats for your meals. However, do not skip meals as you may just end up overeating in the next meal.
Do cardio: If you feel bloated and sluggish after lunch, hit a cardio class in the evening. You will feel much better after exercise even if you hit the treadmill for 10 minutes. Here are 6 surefire ways to stop yourself from overeating.
