This is a weight loss tips straight out of your fantasies. From time immemorial, weight watchers, who had to endure strict diet and exercise regimens, may have wished for a way to lose weight in their sleep. And it turns out that is possible, thanks to science of course. Imagine feeling a few pounds lighter when you wake up first thing in the morning! All you have to is crank down the temperature when you hit the bed. According to a research published in the journal Diabetes, the ambient temperature plays a big role in regulating your metabolism and increasing the good brown fats in your body. Here are other ways in which you can lose weight in your sleep.
In the recent years, science has researched the role of brown adipose tissue in counterbalancing the obesity pandemic. It is believed that more the amount of brown fat, the less the risk of obesity and glucose intolerance. Which is probably why people with a higher proportion of brown fat in the bodies tend to look younger and slimmer than those with white fat reserves. The four-month-long study was conducted on five young men who slept inside the climate-controlled rooms at National Institute of Health. They were made to wear hospital clothes and the temperature of the rooms was set at 75.2 degree in the first month of the study, 66.2 in the second, 75.2 in the third and 8-.6 in the fourth. In addition to this, their meals and snacks comprised 50% carbohydrate, 20% protein, and 30% fat.
In the months when the temperature was low, the participants' brown fat increased and so did their insulin sensitivity. The results of the study clearly showed that sleeping in the cold did have weight loss and health benefits. But for the tip to work, it is important to pay attention to your diet and commit to a weight loss regimen. Simply sleeping in a cold room will not yield results on its own. This could best work as a supplement to your fitness goals. But try not to give yourself a sore throat and runny nose if you have a low tolerance for cold. In that case, it's best to try other weight loss methods. And the idea is to make a room a little cooler than before; don't turn your room into a freezing Tundra.
