In case you are rubbing your eyes in disbelief, you read that title right. It turns out that clicking a selfie or two may have weight loss benefits. Who doesn't love to click a little picture of themselves on the sly? It's a perfectly normal thing to do, despite what the psychologists say about selfie clicking and narcissism. Studies say if you love clicking selfies, you are overestimating your beauty. If you can't stick to your weight loss diet have the habit of routinely falling off the wagon, you should consider turning that cell phone camera towards yourself.
A study conducted by a nutrition clinic in Colombia showed that selfie clicking while on a weight loss plan will ensure that you will stick to it. A whopping 71.3 percent of the 271 who enrolled for the study were successful in meeting their weight loss goals and sticking to the plan. These participants recorded their progress through a series of full length photographs of themselves every week instead of clicking a picture at the last day of their diet plan. This allowed them to see how they were progressing with the plan.
Apart from clicking pictures every week, these participants also had their measurements taken. They checked their body-mass index and waist-to-hip ratio. They even recorded their exercise and food data every day to help them monitor their progress.
How does it help?
The secret to this trick is gratification. For any weight loss plan to work, it is important that you stay motivated. If you don't see results, you are bound to get frustrated. The changes of you giving up on your weight loss goals will be more. The pictures of your progress will instil the much-needed encouragement you needed for weight loss. The sight of your track pants sitting snugly on your waist and the hint of a bulge on your triceps will be enough to keep you going. This will allow you to judge for yourself whether the diet plan is working. Naturally, you'll get all the assurance you needed to continue with your plan.
