Chicken curry and rice is one of my most favourite comfort foods. This is a complete meal which provides me with a good amount of protein from chicken and carbs from rice. Spicy, wholesome and tasty, this chicken curry is a hit with everyone in my family too. Chicken is a source of minerals like phosphorous and calcium and selenium which help to keep our bones healthy. It is a lean meat with little fat. It also contains zinc which boosts sperm production and testosterone levels. Here are some other health benefits of chicken. If you re someone who is looking for weight loss, you must try this chicken curry recipe. Ingredients

For the marinade

tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp garlic paste

Salt to taste

1 tbsp lemon juice

For the masala paste

6-7 black peppers

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp coriander powder

1 chopped onion

cup freshly grated coconut

5-6 dry red chillies

5-6 curry leaves

For the curry

250 gm chicken (curry pieces)

Water as required

Salt to taste

tsp cinnamon powder

Chopped coriander

1 chopped onion

Method

1. Marinate the chicken in the marinade ingredients and keep the chicken aside for about 1 hour in the fridge.

2. Meanwhile, dry roast grated coconut and keep aside. Then pour oil into a pan and fry onions till they almost brown. In the same pan, add the rest of the masala paste ingredients till you get the aroma of the spices. Let it cool.

3. Combine spice and onion mixture with coconut and whisk it in a grinder with some water to make a thick paste.

4. For the curry, pour some oil in a pan and fry onions till they are brown. Add the chicken and cook it for about 15 minutes.

5. Add the masala paste and make sure to coat all the chicken pieces with it. Add water and salt.

6. Let the chicken cook completely.

7. About 5 minutes before taking it off the flame, add powdered cinnamon and mix.

8. Garnish with chopped coriander, squeeze lemon juice and serve the chicken curry with chapati or rice.
