You must have heard that strength training combined with a low-carb diet is the secret to a lean body. Many also resort to a ketogenic diet where they completely avoid carbs and eat only protein and healthy fats to get that thin frame. But going too low on carbohydrates can backfire, and you can suffer from some side effects. So if any of these warning signs persist more than two weeks of you cutting down on carbs, make sure that you add carbohydrates back to your plate, says sports nutritionist Akansha Chaddha.

1. You get cold very often: Carbohydrates contribute in the production of disease-fighting antibodies and getting less of carbs would mean that you are not producing enough antibodies. So you are likely to get sick more often if you are eating as less as under 100g of carbohydrates a day. Carbohydrates that are not refined like sweet potatoes can keep you healthy and on track. You experience fatigue even after a light workout: If you feel like skipping the gym the next day even after you have lifted light weights and did slow repetitions, the chances are that you are not getting enough fuel and you need more of it. About an hour before you hit the gym make sure you eat a banana or an apple for that added energy.
