chicken soupWe usually suffer from a cold at least once every year and no matter how much we try, it does affect our day-to-day activities as our body feels weak and all we can think of is curling up in bed and drinking something hot. One of the best remedies to get some relief during a common cold is having chicken soup. This is because it not just promises a quick recovery but keeps it from getting worse by preventing infection.

Chicken soup helps clear congestion in the respiratory tract and unblocks the nose which means better air flow. It also soothes a sore throat. If you have a very bad case of cough, chicken soup can come in handy as it has cysteine which helps reduce the thickness of mucus. So the next time you feel you are coming down with a cold, have a bowl of chicken soup. You can add a few chopped veggies to make it more nutritious.
