Most of us know the answers to all these questions. But have you ever wondered what is the right time to buy shoes? Yes, there is a right time to buy shoes too. Even I was unaware of this until Dr Sanjay Kalra Consultant Endocrinologist, Bharti Hospital Karnal & Vice President, South Asian Federation of Endocrine Societies said that it is important to buy shoes at the right time, especially for people suffering from diabetes. This is because investing in the wrong footwear can increase the complications of diabetic foot and also foot injury. What is the right time to buy shoes?

According to Dr Sanjay Karla, the right time to buy shoes is not in morning but evening/night. This is because, during the course of the day the sugar and salt concentration increases, which causes fluid retention in the body, especially in the legs and arms. As the sugar and salt concentration increases during evening, more water in the body is accumulated throughout the body. So if the foot size is seven in the morning, it might be eight in the evening because of fluid retention.

However, if you buy shoes in the morning, there are high chances that the footwear might turn out to be too tight by the time you start using it. And if you plan to go shopping in the morning and buy footwear that is a size more than your actual size, the footwear might be too loose. Hence, if you are planning to invest in comfortable shoes, go shopping in the evening. You may like to read about how these four types of footwear be harming your feet?
