The fragrance of ginger, garlic and all those sauces makes you salivate as you pass by a chinese cuisine joint. A rainy day reminds you of a hot bowl of manchow soup and chowmein is the best takeaway meal you can think of. Chinese food has become a part of Indian tastes. From roadside vendors to fine dine restaurants, Chinese food is a hot-seller everywhere. What you don’t realise is that this food comes loaded with calories and you need to keep a watch when eating it if you wish to maintain your waistline.   • Veg manchow soup: 1 bowl = 215 cal
  • Chicken manchow soup: 1 bowl = 102.7 cal
  • Sweet corn soup: 1 bowl = 156.4 cal
  • Veg hot and sour soup: 1 bowl = 103.4 cal
  • Veg spring rolls: 1 piece = 196.4 cal
  • Chicken spring rolls: 1 piece = 430.2 cal
  • Chicken satay: 1 piece: 226.6 cal
  • Chilli paneer: 1 cup = 421.4 cal
  • Chilli mushroom: 1 cup = 206.6 cal
  • Chilli chicken: 1 bowl = 437.4 cal
  • Veg manchurian (dry): 2 pieces = 73.1 cal
  • Gobi manchurian (dry): 2 pieces: 34.4 cal
  • Mushroom manchurian (dry): 2 pieces: 43.9 cal
  • Chicken manchurian (dry): 2 pieces = 131.1 cal

So the next time you opt for a soup and starter combo, choose clear soups over the corn flour thickened ones. Replace spring rolls with a satay to skip the deep fried food. Mushrooms are usually not deep fried like paneer and chicken. Hence, chilli mushroom is relatively low on calories.
