The recent news about Hrithik's brain surgery brought in the limelight the safety of these stars and what risks they take while shooting their films. Here are actors who got injured on sets performing dangerous stunts.
Hrithik Roshan
He had to undergo a brain surgery after a head injury in Phuket while filming Bang Bang. But in the past too Duggu has hurt himself performing stunts. On the sets of his superhero flick Krrish, he had a near-fatal accident when he fell from a highrise in Singapore as his wire snapped and he came hurtling down. It was a canopy that saved his life from the 50-feet fall. It was sheer luck that canopies were out that day due to the light drizzle or else the fall would have been fatal.
During the filming of the new Agneepath, he injured his back while shooting an action sequence where he had to lift a burly man and he decided to do it himself rather than opting for a body-double. In visible pain, he had to undergo an MRI scan post the incident.
Shah Rukh Khan
His recent appearances for the promotion of his new flick Chennai Express saw him with a shoulder strap. While doing some heavy-duty action sequences for the film, he hurt his shoulder badly and had to undergo a surgery for the same. But this isn't the first time he's been hurt on sets. In the past, SRK has sustained many injuries like an ankle twist, broken ribs and knee injury. But these haven't stopped him from performing his own stunts in his flims. Kudos to SRK!

Amitabh Bachchan
Who can forget the near-fatal injury that Big B had on the sets of Coolie. During an action sequence between him and Puneet Issar, he was seriously injured and had to be hospitalised for months before he could start shooting again. It is during that time people came to know about his astronomical fan following thousands would throng outside his house or visit shrines to pray for his recovery. When the film was released, it had a freeze frame to depict the action sequence which led to his injury.
Ranveer Singh
His recent film Lootera with Sonakshi Sinha has been well-received by the masses. Guess this makes the back injury he had while filming it worth the trouble. Though not much has been spoken about it, Ranveer suffered a back injury on the sets and was on complete bed rest for a couple of weeks. Post this, while filming for Gunday, the actor again had a mishap while filming a dance number. He lost his balance and fell off the elevated platform leading to a gash on his face and a few stitches. But looks like no amount of stitches or injuries can stop the actor from doing good work.
John Abraham
During the filming of Shootout At Wadala, John suffered a bruise due to an error by the team handling the shot. Apparently a blank bullet which needed to be fired from a range of 15 ft was shot by Anil Kapoor from a distance of merely 1.5 ft. Though he dodged the bullet from hitting his face, he could not completely escape it and it brushed past his collar bone leading to a bruise.
Shahid Kapoor
He's been away from the limelight for quite some time now with no release since his last flick Teri Meri Kahaani. But the actor is gearing up for an action film Rambo Rajkumar. During the shoot, he apparently sustained minor burns when drops of a chemical used to create fire fell on his arms and back.
Abhishek Bachchan
His Bol Bachchan act was much liked by the audience but few know about his injury during its shoot. AB Junior got six stitches near his eye when he slipped and fell and hit a rickshaw. The sequence involved him running behind it chasing the guy in the rickshaw and while doing this he slipped. The incident took place in Jaipur.
Akshay Kumar
The original action hero of Bollywood who is known to perform his own stunts in most of his films, did sustain injuries while doing it. The most recent one was on his film Rowdy Rathore where he injured his shoulder in the pre-climax fight scenes. Prior to this injury, Akki also suffered a major one on sets of Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi when he had to lift WWE wrestler Undertaker. He severely injured his back while lifting him so much so that the pain resurfaces even now.
It's not just actors who've shown dare devilry while doing stunts. Our Bollywood actresses haven't been behind in competing with them and unfortunately many hurt themselves in the process.
Katrina Kaif
While shooting for action-packed Dhoom 3, Katrina injured herself during an action sequence. Despite the injury, she completed the shot and went ahead to shoot for her other film Bang Bang. She had sustained an injury on the sets of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan when Imran Khan hit the barrel of his gun on her nose and it started bleeding profusely.
Kareena Kapoor
The actress who stayed away from stunts in most of her films recently gave it a shot in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein. A sequence of the film required her to walk on a jute rope without being strapped. Kareena insisted on doing it herself rather than opting for a stunt person. Though she managed to walk on the rope, the heat and the jute left her feet badly bruised.
Aishwarya Rai
While filming Khakee, Ash was injured on the sets when a jeep which was supposed to stop 20 ft away from her lost control and hit her. She was thrown back and landed on some bushes which prevented her falling on rocks below. She was rushed to the hospital and received 10 stitches.
