Bhaag Milkha Bhaagis set to hit theatres on July 12 but the buzz about Farhan Akhtar's physique was created right from the time the first look of the film was out. His toned and ripped body was and still is the talk of the town and people are anxious to see him portray the life of Milkha Singh aka the Flying Sikh onscreen. We speak to the man responsible for giving Farhan his much talked about and perhaps one of the best bodies in Bollywood his fitness trainer Samir Jaura.
What kind of body does Farhan Akhtar have and how easy or difficult was it to transform it?
Farhan has the body type of an ectomorph which means he is lean with long and thin limbs. Keeping this in mind, I devised his fitness routine. His body responded well to HST training (hypertrophy strength training). HST is a kind of strength training that involves an increase in the size of the skeletal muscle.
How much time did it take to get him in the required shape?
It took us almost a year to get him in shape because he sported three very different, distinct looks in the movie and Farhan's body had to look a certain way for each of them.
What was his training routine like?

Farhan had a fixed training schedule. He did athletic training in the morning and strength training in the evening. He trained for 4 to 5 hours a day and followed a structured diet.
What were the challenges that he faced while preparing his body for the role of Milkha Singh?
The main challenge that Farhan faced was to adapt to the three different looks that were required in the movie. He lived and played the part of Milkha Singh for a year. He took special time off just to train and look the part for this particular movie.
