Breathing exercises or pranayama can do much more than just help you deal with stress and anxiety. This breathing technique in particular recommended by kundalini yoga expert Raman Mishra can help curb your cravings and aid in weight loss. Cravings could signal that your body lacks a few nutrients, but sometimes it could also be a sign that your body is processing something on an emotional level. Controlling your breath can trick your mind and prevent you from giving in to your cravings. If you are a compulsive eater, do this process for 90 days straight to not give into your cravings. Just go to a quiet place in your lobby or your cabin and do this exercise not to find yourself for that 4 pm sugar. Here are 10 healthy ways to control your appetite.

The breathing technique is incredibly easy. Here s how you can do it.

  • Sit comfortably in sukhasana or the easy pose and keep your back straight. If you find it difficult to sit on the floor, you can sit in your chair with your feet planted firmly on the ground.
  • Then bring your right hand up to your face and block your right nostril with your right thumb. Then slowly inhale through your left nostril.
  • Hold your breath in for as long as you can and slowly exhale through your left nostril. Make sure that you take some time to hold the breath out. Your breaths should be long, slow and deep as you inhale and exhale through your left nostril.

Do this continuously for three minutes and then gradually increase your time and do it for 30 minutes a day. Here are 6 tips to stop craving sugar.
