Ananda balasana or the happy baby pose -- a perfect asana to beat that post workout fatigue

Here is a yoga pose that can help you get rid of that post workout fatigue.

Ananda balasana or the happy baby poseAnanda balasana or the happy baby pose is one of those asanas in yoga that helps you relax right after a strenuous workout -- especially if you have just lifted weights. Not only does it help stretch-out your hips, but also helps open up the inner groins, lengthens and realigns the spine, calms the mind and relieves stress. Apart from that it also helps strengthen the arms and shoulders.

Steps to do this pose:

  • Lie down flat on the floor and bring your knees to your chest.
  • Now hold your toes with your hands and slowly spread your legs such that your knees are on either side of your chest.
  • Ensure that your ankles are right above your knees and are not over extended.
  • Now gently rock from side to side while massaging your spinal column.
  • To come back to the original position slowly release your toes and lay your legs flat on the floor.
  • Relax in Shavasana for a few minutes and then get up.

Tip: If you have a hip or back injury do this pose under the guidance of a trained practitioner.
