According to a study published by Xie JT and colleagues, curry leaves may be clinically significant in improving glucose levels in type 2 diabetes. A research carried out by Vinuthan MK and colleagues suggest that kadi patta could be stimulating the synthesis of insulin by beta cells of the pancreas. Another study that was published in the Journal of Plant food for Nutrition showed that kadi patta not only helps lower blood sugar levels immediately but also controls it for a few days after consumption. They may be affecting insulin activity of the body and reduce blood sugar levels.

Moreover, these tiny leaves contain dietary fibre that helps regulation of glucose by slowing down its absorption from the intestine into the blood stream.
