With Diwali, you must have definitely been indulging in parties and bingeing on unhealthy foods. As most of us load up unhealthy foods during the festive season, the following detox plan can help in mitigating toxic effect of these foods on the body. Moreover, following a detox diet can help you clean your body after the party season, says Harpreet Kaur, Nutritional Coach, FITSO - Your Fitness Coach. Here is a seven-day meal plan you must follow to clear toxins from the body and get back on a healthy diet.

Day ONE

Early morning: Drink a glass of lwarm water and lemon the first thing in the morning on day one to flush toxins from the body.

Breakfast: Have a glass of detox vegetable juice during breakfast. To prepare this, add one carrot, one beetroot, half apple, a piece of ginger and a dash of lemon juice in a grinder with some water. Strain and drink the juice. Here are 7 reasons you should not skip meals.

Mid-morning: Choose fruits like guava, pear, apple, orange, strawberry, peach, plums and apricots to satiate your mid-morning cravings.

Lunch: For lunch, you can have a salad bowl which is packed with a variety of lightly steamed or raw seasonal vegetables preferably organic.

Evening snacks: You can eat a handful mix of nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and melon seeds with green tea for the evening.

Dinner: It should comprise clear vegetable soup or stew with grilled vegetables or chicken.

Day TWO

Early morning: Follow the same routine as day one -- squeeze half a lemon in lukewarm water.

Breakfast: On day two, you should have a detox smoothie with is made from half a cup of strawberry, raspberry, blueberry and spinach.

Mid-morning: Choose fruits like guava, pear, apple, orange, strawberries, peach, plums and apricots.

Lunch: You can have a bowl of lentil and coriander soup for lunch.

Evening Snacks: A handful mix of nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, melon seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds with green tea can satiate your evening cravings.

Dinner: For dinner, have broccoli and paneer salad as it fills you up and prevents you from midnight cravings.

Day THREE

Early morning: On day three, have a glass of amla juice (two tablespoons of amla juice in a glass of water) in the morning.

Breakfast: Opt for a detox yoghurt bowl with fruits and dry fruits for breakfast.

Mid-morning: Choose any two fruits like guava, pear, apple, orange, strawberries, peach, plums and apricots.

Lunch: You should have quinoa with a seasonal choice of vegetables including spinach and unsweetened lemon juice for lunch to keep you feel full for long.

Evening snacks: A handful mix of nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, melon seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds with green tea might do the trick.

Dinner: You can choose from vegetable or chicken stew depending on your preference on day three for dinner.

Day FOUR

Early morning: You can either have a glass of warm water with lemon juice or amla juice on an empty stomach. Here are 7 things you should never do on an empty stomach.

Breakfast: You can have a detox protein smoothie made from greens (spinach/kale), four almonds and four dates.

Mid-morning: Choose any two fruits like guava, pear, apple, orange, strawberries, peach, plums and apricots.

Lunch: You can have boiled vegetables in a vegetable stew for lunch.

Evening snacks: Opt for a handful mix of nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, melon seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds with green tea.

Dinner: For dinner on day four, have raw vegetable and fruits salad like carrot, papaya, capsicum, tomatoes with a dash of lemon and half teaspoon virgin olive oil.

Day FIVE

Early morning: On day five, drink a glass of lemon with warm water.

Breakfast: You can have wheatgrass juice with one teaspoon chia seeds to meet your morning dose of breakfast.

Mid-morning: Choose any two fruits like guava, pear, apple, orange, strawberries, peach, plums and apricots to prevent hunger pangs.

Lunch: A diet containing half a cup of organic brown rice with steamed vegetables and fresh herbs is what form your lunch for day five.

Evening snacks: Follow the same-old routine of having a handful mix of mix of nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, melon seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds with green tea for an evening.

Dinner: A bowl of mixed green salad like lettuce, spinach, cabbage with tomatoes and bell peppers and two tablespoons grated paneer/boiled egg white. Sprinkle with sunflower seeds and toss with virgin olive oil and lemon.

Day SIX

Early Morning: Start your day with a glass of amla juice

Breakfast: For breakfast, have yoghurt with dry fruits like apricot, peaches, prunes, flaxseeds and almond flakes.

Mid-morning: Choose any two fruits like guava, pear, apple, orange, strawberries, peach, plums and apricots.

Lunch: You can have steamed vegetables with fresh herbs and a half cup of quinoa.

Evening Snacks: A handful mix of mix of nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, melon seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds with green tea is all you need for evening snacks.

Dinner: You should have a clear fish soup (if non-vegetarian) or lentil soup (if vegetarian) for dinner. Also read about reasons you should have dinner at sunset.

Day SEVEN

Early morning: Just like day one, have a glass of lukewarm water and lemon juice.

Breakfast: For breakfast have a banana, coconut and dates smoothie to keep you full until lunch.

Mid-morning: Choose any two fruits like guava, pear, apple, orange, strawberries, peach, plums and apricots.

Lunch: For lunch, have vegetable omelette or tofu salad. The key is to eat light but a filling meal.

Evening snacks: A handful mix of mix of nuts and seeds like walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, melon seeds, chia seeds and flax seeds with green tea for an evening.
