Gum diseases are infection caused by accumulation of bacteria in the mouth. A person is prone to plaque accumulation if he/she don t brush twice or thrice a day. Whenever we eat, a layer of pellicle accumulates which contains bacteria and food. This happens in every mouth. If a person doesn t brush regularly this pellicle layer is converted into a soft plaque deposit on the teeth surfaces. This accumulation of plaque deposit leads to inflammation of gums and bleeding from the soft tissue that is gums. Some studies have even indicated that in patients with both conditions, reigning in periodontitis may improve diabetes control.

Helicobacter pylori can be transmitted orally, and large epidemiological studies have found a positive association between periodontitis and a positive test for the bacterium, which is also a risk factor for stomach cancer. Different researchers have come to somewhat different conclusions, but the bacterial pockets that form during periodontitis unquestionably pose a risk for various kinds of bacterial growth.

  • Keep a tooth brush and floss stick on your bed side stool. You don t need toothpaste; just do a quick dry brush while you are in bed. You can floss with the help of floss holder with one hand while you are in bed. Or you can rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Do clean all teeth by your tongue touching every tooth from the front region to the last molar.
  • Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and, massage gums with the pulp of index finger for two minutes make your gums healthy and strong.
