High cholesterol is a common complaint among many these days, but apart from controlling your diet and exercising right, there is a natural way to help lower those dreaded numbers -- yoga.
Here are seven yoga poses that can help lower your cholesterol levels.

Not only does the inverted position (you are in when in this pose) help improve blood circulation to your head and neck, it also helps improve the working of your endocrine system, digestive tract and helps relieve congestion.
Uttanpadasana: The leg-raised-pose helps improve the functioning of your abdominal muscles. Apart from that, it also strengthens the muscles of your lower back, muscles of your pelvis and abdomen. Uttanpadasana also helps improve the functioning of your digestive system and aids in removing toxins from your body.
Matsyasana: Also known as the fish pose, this asana helps increase blood circulation to your digestive organs, lungs and those present in your pelvic region. Apart from that, lying in this pose and breathing deep into your abdomen also helps massage the nerve endings that feed various endocrine glands, improving their functioning.
Dhanurasana: In this position, also known as the boast pose, your back is curved upwards and outwards, which helps stretch the muscles in the umbilical region and increases blood supply to organs below it. It also stretches your pelvic muscles and increases blood supply to your entire body, especially your digestive tract and endocrine system.
Kapalbhati pranayam : A very effective breathing technique, Kapalbhati pranayam helps improve excretion of toxins. Apart from that it also helps improve the functioning of organs in your abdomen, boosts your metabolic rate and improves blood circulation.
Nadi shodhana pranayam: This alternative breathing technique helps improve blood circulation and increases the oxygen concentration in your blood. It also helps increase blood circulation and improves the healing process of your body.
