Actor Tejasswi Prakash has spoken honestly about a struggle many people face but rarely talk about. During a conversation with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbaachiya, the actress revealed that she had been suffering from insomnia for quite some time. Haarsh, hoping to raise her morale, responded, 'It's not like that. If you go to bed early, you will sleep early. You don't get sleep after a certain time." Tejasswi responded, "No, I don't get sleep anyway. I just lie down. I don't have a phone or a TV in hand or for distraction; I just lie down and keep looking at the fan for hours."
"It's really frustrating, honestly. You know, hours go by, and sometimes you watch the sunrise from behind the curtains. And you can't sleep for a single night. Seriously, there are so many nights a week when I can't sleep at all. Not even for a minute. And because I live in a row house and I'm on the ground level, sometimes I hear birds early in the morning. I can hear them, and then I know it's morning," she added.
Haarsh then questions how she manages to work the next day, to which Tejasswi responds, "I think this has been happening for the last year. In the beginning, I used to get very irritated thinking, 'Why didn't I sleep?' I used to be so tired that I wished I could just go to bed. But no, I used to stay wide awake. This would ruin my day and make me even more irritable."
Tejasswi continued, "But after a while, I realised, even if I didn't sleep last night, why waste the next day? So now I wake up and say, It's okay, I didn't sleep, and that's okay." Tejasswi disclosed that when travelling for a shoot, she went to bed at 6 a.m. and awoke at 11 a.m. Haarsh was taken aback and inquired about her ability to function on only five hours of sleep per night. Tejasswi responded, "I can't sleep at all!"
Sleep is valuable for making clear and stable emotions and good energy levels. In cases where one fails to sleep properly, he or she might get irritated, forgetful or slow in the mornings. Tejasswi also said that she attempts to remain active and cheerful at the workplace, but insomnia has its consequences.
Physical health can also be an issue in cases of chronic sleep problems. It may suppress immunity, increase stress and give a headache or exhaustion. Her transparent nature regarding this issue enhances the dissemination of information regarding the effect of sleep on well-being.
Experts suggest that for the maintenance of a sleep routine, avoiding heavy meals later in the evening and practising relaxing exercises will also assist in getting better sleep. A gentle stretching or even a short walk can make the body relax.
