When one is stressed, everything in life seems dull, disgusting and out of control. However, a little introspection would tell you that at times stress is the outcome of our stubbornness towards life in general and an incapability to accept changes in an assertive way. Even though we know that change is the only thing constant in life, this reality is hard to believe. Here are a few tips that can help you dodge a stressful situation.
Embrace change gracefully: Remember, in life you won't be able to take control over everything, especially other people's behaviour towards you, certain situations and life's extraordinary twists and turns. It is futile to be stressed due to such reasons as it will lead you nowhere. However, it is difficult to accept changes and bad behaviour from others and stay calm at the same time. So to deal with the same, give yourself some time for the initial setback to sink in. Thereafter, focus your energies on how to deal with those situations and get better at inter-personal relations.
Share your feelings: There is no other way to vent out your pent-up frustrations and sorrows than sharing it with a loved one. Ditch the smartphone and talk to real people to express yourself. Don't judge people here; remember it is you who needs help. So if you can't share your feelings with a friend or likeminded people, talk to your mum or your dad. Of course, they might not have solutions to the problems related to your corporate world, but they know more about life and how to handle it better than you. Did you know that even talking to your pet can have the same effect on you?
Learn from your mistakes: If your stress is more situational, try to analyze the situation promptly. Even if you are in the situation due to your poor choices, still stop blaming yourself. Instead, learn from your mistakes so that you don't repeat them.
Write a stress diary: Writing a diary has always been therapeutic. But writing a stress diary is a bit different. Keep a note of the events, time and situations that can lead to stressful events. Later do a self-analysis to understand where you lack in taking charge of those situations.
Do a little self-talk: This doesn't mean asking yourself 'why me' instead say 'I can do better and endure more than this.' Pep talk with self can boost one's self-confidence and help to beat the blues without much effort.
