As winter sets in, most of us fall prey to various infections ranging from common cough and cold to flu. And one such common winter ailments that is triggered or worsened due to the cold weather is sinusitis. With the severe pain that spreads around the nose and the head, we have no option but to sit at home applying for a leave. Things become worse when the pills also fail to provide a relief. In such a case, you can try using a common kitchen ingredient that is easily available at home — rock salt. Yes, this home remedy can help you relieve sinusitis naturally without any side-effects. Known as sendha namak, rock salt is known as an expectorant, which not only clears the nasal passages but also reduces the inflammation providing relief from a sinus infection. It also acts as a powerful antioxidant, which helps in flushing free radicals from the body and boost your immunity. Also, salt helps in draining the excess water trapped in the sinus thereby helping you to treat the condition. The antibacterial properties of the salt help in alleviating the infection and relieve the pain. Here are few natural remedies for sinusitis. How to use it?

Most of us prefer gargling with salt in the morning to get rid of cold and throat infections if any. However, one thing that you must bear in mind is that you must use concentrated salt water for gargling for effective results. To treat sinus infection, all you need to do is dissolve rock salt in hot water and inhale the steam by covering up in a blanket. The steam filled with salt crystals helps in relieving the blocked nose and clear up the nostril thereby providing some quick relief. Do this at least 2- 3 times a day for effective results.
