FlatulenceBeans and peas always top the list of healthy foods. They are known to be loaded with myriad range of nutrients that exert beneficial effect on the heart and health. But, when it comes to flatulence or Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS); it is recommended to stay from eating beans. Have you ever wondered why it is so? Let's find out.

Although you may feel that talk about flatulence and beans is highly exaggerated, if you have a sensitive bowel than this relation holds true. The reason being beans are high in dietary fibre and resistant starches. The bacteria present in the intestine usually carry out the digestion of these starches and fibre-producing gas. And when you have a diet that is rich in these nutrients such as beans, it causes an increase in the number of these bacteria in the intestine which in turn result in formation of more gas. Hence, people suffering from flatulence and IBS should avoid beans in their diet to prevent gas pooling and impaired expulsion of gas.

Tip:

Adding a little crushed ginger while cooking beans and peas is found to prevent flatulence.
