Kate Middleton's birthday and health update: Kate Middleton, who celebrates her 43rd birthday today -- January 9 -- has had a rough few months, having dealt with and survived cancer in 2024. But, her immediate family is proud of her for the courage that she has shown in the face of adversity. Kate, who is married into the British royal family and serves as a senior member, was diagnosed with cancer last year after she underwent a scheduled abdominal surgery. While the nature and type of her cancer is still not known, the Princess of Wales has updated her followers on social media periodically, including when she started preventative chemotherapy, and when she was finally able to complete her treatment and go back to resuming normal activities, a milestone that left her feeling relieved and grateful. Now, surrounded by her family, she is celebrating her cancer-free birthday this year, and husband Prince William, the future king of the UK, shared a sweet and thoughtful message for her. Take a look.

Taking to the official social media accounts for the Prince and Princess of Wales, William shared a new black-and-white photograph of his wife and the mother of his three children, and wrote: "To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you've shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you." He signed off with a 'W', the initial for 'William'.

In 2024 March, Kate revealed she had been diagnosed with an unspecified cancer for which she had started chemotherapy treatment. The announcement came just weeks after it was revealed that Charles -- the UK monarch -- was suffering from cancer, too. For many months in 2024, Kate could not make public appearances, as she quietly recovered while being surrounded only by her staff and immediate family.

A family friend, meanwhile, has exclusively revealed to People magazine that the Princess of Wales is a "real running, skipping and jumping type of sporty person", who is 'wisely prioritising' her health these days. "She is looking after herself and is wise to do so. She will know when she wakes up if she is well enough or not [to do something]," the friend revealed.
