Everybody wants to lead a healthy life, but the general misconception is that one requires to put in many hours, effort and money into the gym in order to achieve optimal health. That is not the case. Besides gymming, there are many other ways to stay healthy and fit, and add years to your life. While staying physically active is definitely important, getting enough sleep, eating proper food, being able to relax by engaging in hobbies, staying away from alcohol and tobacco, limiting intake of sugar and processed foods, etc., are also crucial factors that determine good health. Then, there is one small and simple activity that many people usually overlook, which can add several years to your life and also improve its quality. In January, most people around the world write down their resolutions for the year. Some of them complicate it by making elaborate plans. But, if you really want to prioritise your health this year, start doing one thing daily, diligently, and mindfully: staying hydrated by drinking lots of water.

To boost the overall well-being, one has to rely on water, which is said to be the elixir of life. Unfortunately, many people forget to fulfil their daily target of intake of water, and often do not even think of it as a priority. But, if there is one resolution that you must follow strictly, it is that of staying hydrated, regardless of the weather conditions.

Drinking water is the least complicated activity. Unlike cooking, it does not need preparation. Unlike gymming, you do not need to travel anywhere or need any equipment. You simply have to pour yourself a glass of water and consume it, so that it can flush out toxins from the body, keep your skin and hair healthy, make your bones and muscles strong, promote digestion by taking care of your gut health, and also boost your overall well-being by reducing stress levels.

Water is considered to be beneficial for people with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart issues, etc. It can keep organs like eyes, lungs, kidneys and liver strong.

Many health experts are of the opinion that drinking adequate water and staying optimally hydrated, besides leading a generally healthy lifestyle, can prolong one's life and improve its quality by preventing diseases and infections.
