What is an ischemic stroke? A stroke happens when the brain is blocked out of blood supply for some time, it may range from few minutes to longer. Ischemic stroke is a type of stroke that happens when one part of the brain does not receive enough blood or oxygen supply. Stroke can also be of another type called as 'hemorrhagic stroke.' However, because the onset of symptoms take place during sleep, right before waking up, the signs may linger for a while after the person is awake.
