Kate Middleton's prolonged absence from the public eye continues to upset and worry her fans and followers from around the world, who leave no chance to ask her husband, Prince William, about the Princess of Wales' well-being. Kate, who is a senior member of the British royal family, has been battling cancer for a while now, after undergoing a scheduled abdominal surgery at the beginning of the year. The 42-year-old was at The London Clinic for the procedure that was deemed 'successful'.

But, in March this year, the mother-of-three took to her official social media account to share with her followers an update about her health after speculations about her whereabouts: she had been diagnosed with cancer, and had been in the early stages of 'preventative' chemotherapy. This shocked the world, especially since it came weeks after it was announced that King Charles, too, had been battling cancer.

While the nature and type of Kate's cancer still remains unknown, the princess wrote in another heartfelt post shared this week about how she has been doing health-wise, what her recovery period is looking like, and if she intends to return to her official obligations and appearances.

Thanking her fans and followers, the princess wrote: "I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times."

She added that she has been making "good progress". "...but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well," Kate wrote.

The caption ran alongside a picture, in which she stood in the woods and looked up at the sky, wearing a light brown blazer and a pair of jeans. "My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home."

The Princess of Wales further stated that she looks forward to attending the king's birthday parade this weekend, and that she hopes to "join a few public engagements over the summer". "...but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet."

"I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much-needed time to heal," the princess confessed candidly.

In the end, she thanked her followers for their continued understanding and support. Just like many of her previous letters, the text was signed off with a 'C', the initial for Catherine.
