Kate Middleton chemotherapy: After her prolonged absence from public events, barring a few mindful appearances here-and-there, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales has revealed that she has finally completed all her chemotherapy sessions and is looking forward to resuming normal life now, after a rather long period that felt like a trial for her entire family. Kate, who is married to England's future king, Prince William -- with whom she shares three children -- posted a video on social media, showing the family heading to the wilderness to spend quality time together and heal in nature.

A senior member of the British royal family, Kate had been battling cancer for many months now. Earlier this year, she had undergone a scheduled abdominal surgery at the London Clinic, a procedure that was deemed 'successful'. But later, in March 2024, Kate shared with her followers that she had been diagnosed with cancer, and had been advised to undergo preventative chemotherapy, a news that shocked all of the UK. Just weeks prior, King Charles' cancer diagnosis, too, had been announced.

While her nature and type of cancer still remains unknown, the recent video appeared to be hopeful, wherein a visibly-relieved Kate enjoyed her time with her husband and children, George (11), Charlotte (9) and Louis (6). "As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment," the princess stated in the video voice over, which was a montage of clips.

"The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown," said the 42-year-old. She added that the cancer journey can be "complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you". "With humility, it also brings you face-to-face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything."

Kate also offered a rare insight on how she handled the situation with her husband, writing: "This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved."

The couple has managed to otherwise stay private and speak little about the health setback during the last few months. Kate added in her statement that she wants to focus on doing whatever she can to stay cancer-free. "Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes."

She, however, looks forward to resuming work and taking up more public engagements in the coming months. "Despite all that has gone before, I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life."

Kate concluded by saying that she and William are "so grateful for the support [they] have received".
