Kamala Harris health report: The United States president-hopeful Kamala Harris may well be on her way to create history in the country that has never had a woman lead it. As she locks horns with Donald Trump -- who served as the 45th US president from 2017 to 2021 -- her medical report is published by the White House. Compiled by her physician Dr Joshua Simmons, the report reveals that the 49th vice president of the US serving under president Joe Biden since 2021 continues to enjoy an 'excellent' health status. It should be noted that publishing health reports before elections is crucial for leaders in the US. It promotes transparency and accountability, as leaders can demonstrate their commitment to leading with honesty and earning the trust of the public.

Published October 12, 2024, Harris' healthcare report states that she is a 'healthy 59-year-old female, who has a medical history notable for seasonal allergies and urticaria' (rashes on the skin, also known as hives). Dr Simmons, who has been the vice president's primary care physician for the last three-and-a-half-years, since the beginning of this administration, also mentions that Harris mostly suffers from allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis that are well-managed by over-the-counter and prescription medications, including nasal spray and eye drops.

In the report, the doctor also mentions that Harris has mild myopia (nearsightedness), for which she wears corrective contact lenses. She has no problem reading without her contacts or glasses.

The vice president is also up-to-date with all her 'preventative care recommendations', such as colonoscopy and annual mammogram. She takes vitamin D3 supplementation for skeletal health.

According to her doctor, Harris 'maintains a healthy, active lifestyle, despite her busy schedule'. She is also particular about her diet, and eats healthy food. She does not use tobacco products and drinks alcohol 'only occasionally and in moderation'. The president-hopeful also does vigorous daily aerobic exercise and core strength training.

Harris' most recent physical exam was held in April 2024. Her physician called it 'unremarkable'.
