Rich in antioxidants, pepper fights against the free radicals that are a cause of various diseases. By eliminating free radicals in the body, pepper reduces the risk of cancer. The polyphenols also protect the DNA from various carcinogens that may increase the risk of specific cancers. Pepper not only assists in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells but also helps prevent their metastasis. Thus, the risk of cancer cells spreading to various organs is reduced considerably. Moreover, pepper contains piperine [2] which is effective in preventing breast cancer.

Pepper can be added to almost anything. You can add a pinch of pepper to the honey and lime water you drink it in the morning. It can be added to teas, curries, salads, chaas or buttermilk, raita or curd. The anti-cancer properties of pepper are more active when sprinkled over dishes. Hence add it towards the end of cooking.
