I don t know about you but the giant trash accumulated in the water bodies left me feeling guilty about the amount of waste we generate. So, I started making little changes like using glass water bottles instead of plastic ones and using cloth pads instead of the disposable ones. I switched to a line of reusable fragrance-free cotton cloth pads that last 2-3 years if you take good care of them. Here s how they fared.
How convenient were the cotton cloth pads?
I cannot throw them away after I use them so it seems annoying as well as gross every single time I wash them after use. Sometimes, the stains just refuse to leave. Are they better than disposable pads?
But the fact that you cannot throw reusable pads also means that also means that you will never run out of them. So I never have to worry about going to the medical store and picking pads even if I get my periods early some month. And since cloth pads are extra large, I never stained my bed in the night. They provided full coverage and never a scope of leakage. Even at work, I am far less conscious about my pads leaking because I knew they actually worked.
Do the cloth pads feel bulky?
And while those disposable pads always felt a bit bulky, the cloth pads never felt bulky even under yoga pants. They are thinner than most disposable pads while still being that absorbent.
Will I continue to use cloth pads?
I think I will as they worked really well for me and I am never stranded without supplies. However, when I am travelling and I want to do away with all the washing and drying, I opt for fragrance-free disposable pads. Here's everything you wanted to know about reusable cloth menstrual pads.
