Hypnotherapy is fast emerging as an alternative way to cure various ailments. For the past two centuries, this therapy has proved to be very effective, especially in cases not only related to phobias, anxiety, depression, anorexia nervosa, posttraumatic stress disorder, obesity, and somatization disorders but also pertaining to physical and emotional pain, various health conditions, and distress. All this comes without any side effects or ill effects and hence over 5-6 million people benefit from hypnotherapy each year, particularly in countries where it is more widely accepted, such as the United States, Canada, the UK, and Australia. In India, the acceptance of hypnotherapy is low due to poor awareness and widespread myths associated with this therapy.
Hema, a strong woman, confronted the restlessness and hidden scars from childhood abuse inflicted by her brother. Struggling to share her pain, she lost her voice and confidence. A friend suggested her to go for hypnotherapy and through hypnotherapy, she began to rediscover her self-esteem and within a short span, transformed herself from a fa ade of pretence to genuine joy as her laughter and smile illuminated her life once more.
Hypnotherapy has proven to be exceptionally effective in Hema's journey, restoring her self-confidence and self-esteem. This method has shown immense promise in pain management and tackling emotional challenges like anxiety and PTSD, empowering clients to tap into their subconscious for healing. Hema initially harboured fears of losing control or acting irrationally common concerns I often hear. Many share, "You'll control my mind; that's frightening," often stemming from misconceptions surrounding practices like Vashi Karan.
Soumya perceived her mother-in-law as an adversary, causing strain in her marriage and eroding her self-esteem. During regression therapy, she uncovered that her mother-in-law had positively influenced her past lives. This epiphany enabled Soumya to recognize the same holds now, allowing her to release her hurt, achieve inner peace, and extend forgiveness while seeking it in return. Such cases illustrate how hypnotherapy can be profoundly transformative, enriching lives and providing clarity without adverse effects. Soumya initially viewed hypnotherapy as mere entertainment, sharing tales of amusing experiences and tricks.
Hypnotherapy, a powerful tool for personal growth and healing, often faces misconceptions that hinder its widespread acceptance. Common myths include the belief that individuals lose control during sessions, becoming vulnerable to suggestion. Others worry about revealing secrets or making decisions they may later regret. These concerns stem from a lack of understanding about the nature of hypnosis, which is a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility, but not a loss of consciousness or free will.
However, none of these myths are true. Hypnotherapy is a potent and validated therapeutic practice, backed by comprehensive scientific evidence and recognized by professionals globally. It is not a process where the healer is controlling the mind of a subject but a state of deep relaxation. It is a collaborative process between the healer and the subject where both form part of a system aimed to connect with a person's subconscious or soul memory. This therapeutic approach can unveil numerous potential benefits for those willing to explore its depths.
We all bear wounds some visible, others concealed. Hypnotherapy can facilitate healing from transformative emotions and experiences that have shaped us, whether they stem from our current lives, childhood, or even past lives. It empowers individuals to enact positive changes, showcasing a remarkable success rate in addressing an array of issues, from anxiety and overcoming bad habits to emotional healing and enhanced joy & happiness.
Hypnotherapy is widely being accepted as "Hypnotic Medicine" in the world of medical science and many medical institutes worldwide are propagating it as an alternative medicinal field. Currently the global market size of hypnotherapy is more than $15Bn which is growing annually at more than 35% which is not possible unless the therapy is effective and potent. India however is lagging behind and there is urgent need to enhance awareness and negate the myths related to it.
