There are basically two sources for the cause of Diabetic Hyperphagia.
Also called Hyperglycemia is a state of hunger where Insulin enables the entry of blood glucose into cells for the energy and possesses a direct connection. In diabetes the production of insulin and glucose absorption by the cells are affected due to which a person always feels hungry because body cells are out of energy. Since you feel hungry and eat more, the high blood sugar sets off a pattern where overeating elevates blood sugar and leads to further insulin problems.
Hypoglycemia occurs in both diabetic and non diabetic people. Rise due to inadequate food intake and drop in blood glucose. Excessive insulin in the bloodstream in diabetic patients leads to lowering of blood sugar level. This generally happens when you consume excessive diabetic medicines or insulin in the body. Insufficient glucose delivery irrespective of how good you eat to the cells leads to lower energy and sudden hunger. The one who suffers from hypoglycemia mostly gets food craving at night.
It is a serious complication where the body lacks sufficient insulin and body breaks down inner fat for energy resulting in accumulation of harmful ketones. It can be identified with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, shortness in breath, excessive thirst, and etc. Some symptoms are very common so keep a close eye on close friends of these symptoms.
