Horse riding or hippotherapy is one of the most effective neuro-development strategies used today for improving the condition of children with cerebral palsy. But the idea of riding on a horse to improve neurological function is not new. Ancient Greeks and Egyptians believed back then that riding on a horse could be helpful for muscle development and lung function in humans. Years later several attempts were made to develop a scientific framework and bring horse riding into actual use. French physician Dr. Chassaign was the first person who demonstrated that patients with neurological disorders improved a lot after horse riding.
