You should be familiar with this. You gulp down your morning vitamins and before you know it you are hit with a wave of nausea. It is, however, a very common issue. Consuming too many fat-soluble vitamins: Consuming too many fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E and K can make you feel sick. The fat-soluble vitamins leave deposits so you can end up overloading on them. If you overload on the vitamins, you can suffer from nausea that won t go away even after a few hours. So if you notice that you have chronic nausea, consult a doctor so that he can find the cause and rule out the vitamins for you. You should also know about these side effects of calcium supplements. Overloading on vitamins that cause irritation: The feeling of discomfort in your stomach could also be because you are overloading on vitamins like vitamin C, E and iron that could irritate your stomach. You are likely to feel more nauseous if you consume more than your daily recommended dietary intake 75mg vitamin C, 18 mg iron and 15 mg vitamin E. If your multivitamin is high in one of these three nutrients and you experience nausea and other stomach discomforts. It is best that you consider switching the formula.

Taking vitamins on an empty stomach: Taking your vitamins on an empty stomach can also lead to nausea. Regardless of what type of vitamin you are consuming, it can cause a minor irritation in your otherwise empty stomach. The best thing to do is to take the vitamins with your meal to avoid the issue altogether.

Consuming coated vitamins: The nausea could also have to do with the way the vitamin is being delivered. Vitamin capsules with coating can keep the vitamins from dissolving and lead to irritation. Chewables and gummies can be a good alternative to coated vitamins. So if you consume a coated vitamin and feel nauseous, it is best that you check with your doctor so that he can prescribe you a different formula. Here’s a quick guide to get essential vitamins from food.
