What's your morning routine?

A cuppa tea, or warm water with honey if you are a health freak. Reading the newspaper, followed by a bath.

But, apart from all that, here's one thing you need to squeeze in your morning routine, and your heart will thank you for it -- Exercise.

Yes, dedicate just 15 minutes every morning for some cardio or aerobic exercise and you will see a marked improvement in your heart health. If you are dreading this idea already, worry not. You don't have to necessarily slave away at the gym to put your heart on the fast track to health. Even simple exercises like climbing the stairs, brisk walking, spot jogging or even somthing fun like Zumba can help give your heart some much needed exercise. Here are 8 ways to make exercising fun!

According to Dr Nilesh Gautam, senior interventional cardiologist, Asian Heart Institute, says, 'For a healthy heart, doing any form of cardio-vascular or aerobic exercise, especially in the morning is great for the organ's health.'

No, this is definitely not something your doctor is trying to force you to do, it's actually true -- scientifically. A study [1] published in the Arch Intern Medical Journal found that patients with established heart diseases benefited from aerobic exercises performed in the morning or afternoon. Another study [2] backs this conclusion, and also found that patients with coronary heart diseases not only benefited from light exercises health wise, but also showed improved tolerance towards depression and had a better quality of life. Did you know, exercise can also make you beautiful?

So pick your exercise form, or alternate between walking, yoga and Zumba to keep your workout routine exciting -- do whatever you must, but dedicate 15-30 minutes everyday to your heart. To get you started, here are some exercise tips from the fitness guru, Mickey Mehta!
