Govinda health latest news update: Govinda, who is currently hospitalised in Mumbai following a shooting accident, is likely to be discharged on Friday. Earlier this week, the actor and politician made headlines when he accidentally shot himself in the leg, and had to be rushed to a hospital. According to news reports, the 'Bhagam Bhag' star was preparing to leave for Kolkata early in the morning, and had been cleaning his loaded revolver when it accidentally fell from his hand and fired on its own, leaving the actor with a bullet wound just below the knee.
While he was initially admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) on Tuesday, the Shiv Sena leader responded to the treatment and is now on his way to recovery. His wife Sunita Ahuja told the media gathered outside the hospital that his condition had improved significantly. "With everyone's blessings, he has recovered. He has a great fan following, so people are praying for him. I would like to tell the fans to not panic, he is fine..." she reportedly said.

According to Dr Rajiv Manek, consultant general laparoscopic, metabolic and bariatric surgery at Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road, Mumbai, the recovery period after sustaining a bullet injury varies, depending on the severity of the wound.
"A minor gunshot injury can be healed within days or weeks, while a serious one will require a hospital stay of 3-4 weeks or even longer than that. After discharge, one will be required to undergo medication, physiotherapy, and further surgery, if recommended by their doctor. Recovery will be based on the damage the patient has suffered in the bones, muscles, nerves, and soft tissues. It is better to not rush and follow the instructions given by a doctor," he told TheHealthsite.com.
Dr Manek said any kind of injury below the knee is critical; the patient may take several weeks to recover. "Physiotherapy is often recommended to the patient."
According to the doctor, antibiotics, pain relievers, or even surgery is recommended, depending on the severity of the wound. "First, one will have to keep the wound area dry and clean," he said, adding that the wound is elevated to reduce swelling using an ice pack, as advised by the doctor.
"Adhere to the instructions given by the doctor when it comes to cleaning the wound and sutures. Do not use any soap or chemical products without the doctor's knowledge. Any products that you use must be recommended by the doctor. Cover the wound properly while bathing to prevent infections. Wash your hands after cleaning the wound and make sure to avoid doing any strenuous activities. Do not opt for herbal remedies to quicken the wound-healing process; it is a strict no-no to rub or scrub the wound. Try to keep the area dry. Additionally, going for regular check-ups and follow-ups is a must," he concluded.
