How ginger reduces menstrual pain

Menstruation causes release of certain hormones that act on the uterus and cause contractions resulting in menstrual pain. Gingerols present in ginger inhibits the production of these hormones and provides relief from the painful menstrual cramps. Ginger also reduces pitta in the body which is found to cause cramps during periods, thereby relieving menstrual pain.

Tips:

  • Ginger tea: Add pounded ginger and some tea leaves to a cup of boiling water. After a few minutes, add some sugar and strain. Drink this tea to get relief from delayed menstruation and menstrual pain.
  • Boil a few slices of ginger in some water and keep sipping this drink throughout the day to get relief from menstrual cramps.
